If you look through our online reviews you’ll notice something interesting: there are literally hundreds of business owners and executives who are happy to recommend us, but most speak in general terms when they talk about why.
That might strike you as odd, but it’s actually fairly typical within our industry. Executives and owners often find it difficult to describe our work to other people. This could easily sound like a bad thing, but it isn’t. And in this short post we’ll tell you why.
What’s So Hard About Describing Good IT Service?
In our experience, there are essentially two things that make it tough to talk about what we do… or at least why we do it so well. Let’s look at each one in turn.
The first issue has to do with the fact that most of our clients simply aren’t that technical. So, while they know we work on computers, software, and devices, they might not have a great sense of which projects we are focused on at any given moment. They just know we are doing whatever it is they need most. That’s because we have taken the time to understand their business goals and are making sure their tech doesn’t get in the way.
The second issue is that most of what we do happens behind the scenes. In fact, the better we are in our jobs, the less noticeable the effort is. You are keenly aware of an IT professional who shows up when you can’t get online or print a document. You pay less attention, however, when they update your most important apps and your business and employees function normally.
And that, really, gets to the heart of the problem and the value we provide. As a managed services provider it’s our job to make sure clients get the service and support they need. So, we have to be proactive in anticipating challenges, upgrades, and schedules so they don’t affect the company.
The net result is that things just work the way they are supposed to without any disruptions. Isn’t that what you should expect from any vendor, whether it’s in tech or any other field?
Are You Getting the Service You Expect and Deserve From Your Managed Services Team?
It might be hard to describe a good managed IT provider, but it isn’t that hard to find the words for the wrong ones. And unfortunate as it is, we work in an industry where terms like slow, unresponsive, and expensive show up fairly frequently in some companies’ reviews.
